I predict that in 2020 information will be completely horizontal. By that I mean that consumers income, spending habits, schedules, likes, dislikes, health history, ect will be readily available for anyone to access through public online databases. This transparency will allow companies and agencies to use micro focused strategies customized to every individual. Marketing to the individual is not a new concept but with the use of this public information in conjunction with drones, will allow companies to deliver a customized message directly to the consumer at an individualized and optimal time. These drones will place themselves in opportune moments of a consumers day and offer suggestions, promotions, and reminders that the consumer may take advantage of or save for later. This new hyper focused method of reaching consumers takes the guesswork out of how to reach your target audience. By using large data screening, companies will be able to segment entire countries into consumer categories and from there position their drones in locations where they can interact with the consumer on their own terms.

The drones will use artificial inelegance to monitor and learn from consumers past behaviour. This will allow them to adapt and create higher quality interactions in the future. Once the use of personalized drones becomes commonplace in the market companies will have to use consumer focused tactics to gain competitive advantage. They may also invest in joint ventures so that consumers receive complimentary messages simultaneously. The idea of drones flying around may sound like something out of an apocalypse movie with Bradley Cooper, but at the rate technology is developing their application to consumers is likely closer than you think.
